From playful river otters to intimidating sharks, there are more than 20,000 aquatic animals and plants to see during a visit to the Florida Aquarium in Tampa. Touch a bamboo shark in the lobby touch tank or a sea star in the No Bone Zone on the 2nd floor.
The Florida Aquarium’s 2-acre outdoor water adventure zone lets the kids cool off while parents relax under the shade of the Cantina bar and grill. Water cannons, geysers and a climbing pirate ship adventure await children of all ages!
An assortment of entertaining and educational shows is offered during the day, including some from underwater! Listen to scuba divers talk about the importance of coral reefs while surrounded by really big sharks! Come face-to-beak with endangered penguins during daily Penguin Promenades.
Wild Dolphin Adventure Cruise
The Wild Dolphin Cruise departs daily from The Florida Aquarium (weather permitting) to view some of the 500 wild dolphins that call Tampa Bay home. This 90-minute cruise includes an entertaining tour aboard the 72-foot, powered catamaran the Bay Spirit II.
Become Immersed in Underwater Adventures
Guests 6 and older can Swim with the Fishes at The Florida Aquarium and certified SCUBA divers 15 and older can get face to face with massive sharks in the aquarium’s largest exhibit during Dive with the Sharks! These immersive dive programs allow guests to experience these amazing aquatic ecosystems first hand and actually become part of the exhibit!

The Penguins: Backstage Pass is a fun and educational 30-minute Behind the Scenes adventure where guests get the opportunity to interact with penguins in an up-close and personal setting. See penguins swim and play with a chance to touch a real penguin!

The Coral Reef Gallery is a one-of-a-kind view into one of the most beautiful and diverse ecosystems in the world – a habitat normally explored only by experienced divers. The gallery simulates a 60-foot dive starting in shallow-water reefs and descending to deeper waters. Each viewing window presents a micro habitat which changes as the depth increases.

The Florida Aquarium’s 2-acre outdoor water adventure zone lets the kids cool off while parents relax under the shade of the Cantina bar and grill. Watery waves, slippery slides, gushing geysers and an assortment of animal models are just a few of the attractions for the kids. Toddlers will enjoy playing in the sand box, little slides and giant sea creature figures as they play in Shipwreck Shore. While the kids enjoy themselves, you can enjoy the comfort of the Cantina with easy viewing of the play area and table service.
The Caribbean themed family-friendly outdoor exhibit makes the perfect stop during an Aquarium visit.
Kids can climb on aquatic animal models, climb aboard a two story pirate ship, slide down a waterslide, play in water jet sprays and watch live shows while socializing with family and friends. There are a variety of interactive areas with water elements to create an aquatic discovery zone for children.

Shipwreck Shore: Just for Toddlers
Shipwreck Shore gives toddlers their own place to climb on animal figures and pirate ship replica.
