Anna Maria, Florida
Anna Maria Island is located on the west coast of Florida. It is the barrier between the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay. Anna Maria Island is a laid back community that has been described as ‘Old Florida’. It has white sand gulf beaches and only one building over three stories.
Anna Maria Island has three very unique and different cities, Anna Maria City that are mainly residential.
Holmes Beach is both residential and business oriented.
Bradenton Beach is residential and tourist oriented.
All three cities are know for having great restaurants, shopping, and both gulf and bay front beaches. Anna Maria Island is 8 miles west of the city of Bradenton and is attached by the Manatee and the Cortez bridges.
The island has three fishing piers, Rod and Reel, Anna Maria City Pier and the Bradenton Beach City Pier. the all offer unique dining experiences where you can watch the anglers and the pelicans competing for the fish.
You can see the island or go fishing from a charter boat. There is plenty of opportunities to do various water sport activities, such as kayaking throughout the island.
Anna Maria Island has many award winning restaurants. You can also take advantage of the free trolley service to travel around the island.
The trolley will take you a number of areas where you can enjoy eating fine food along the gulf or bay beaches and see the amazing sunsets.
