Dinosaur World – Plant City, Florida
Dinosaur World is Central Florida’s only attraction dedicated to dinosaurs. The 20-acre theme park is located in Plant City, Florida between Tampa and Orlando off of Interstate 4 and a must see for families exploring the area.
Spend your visit walking amongst some of the most feared predators ever to walk on the planet before heading off to the all-new Fossil Dig to practice your skills as a paleontologist. Uncover a prehistoric skeleton in the largest Boneyard Excavation in Florida before taking a turn at the all new Dino Gems Mining operation.
Dinosaur World is an outdoor museum, where visitors can see up close and life size the amazing creatures that once ruled the Earth. There are life sized models of dinosaurs welcome families and classes to learn, have fun, or just enjoy a quiet encounter with the lifelike animals. The park features a broad cast of primordial characters in often bright colors, arranged along wide, paved walkways. Explanatory plaques set in stone point out creatures familiar to any dinosaur novice — the Stegosaurus, the Triceratops, the T-rex — as well as a Lost World of obscure, oddball saurians: the chickenesque Avimimus, the oriental Tsintaosaurus, the spiky-domed Pachycephalosaurus, “largest of all the dinosaurs which some scientists guess may have butted heads.
The dinosaur models stand up to eighty feet in length and based on the latest scientific discoveries, are made of fiberglass, steel, and concrete. The dinosaurs are arranged in groups of as many as eleven of a single species, in a variety of settings.
Nestled among a lush assortment of native vegetation, the dinosaurs are so believable that some visitors claim to see them moving through the shadows cast by the many native trees.
The Dinosaur World has doubled in size. They now have 12 New Acres of everything dinosaur. You will notice the difference as soon as you drive through our new entryway transporting you into a journey into the past you will never forget. A giant T-Rex waits to greet visitors at each location. It’s hard to miss this prehistoric giant on the main entryway in Plant City, Florida.
Dinosaur World History
Dinosaur World is the brainchild of Swedish businessman Christer Svensson, who has been in the entertainment business for over 30 years. Svensson and his family moved to the United States. Attracted to central Florida, where he and his wife and children had vacationed many times, Svensson purchased a former alligator farm as a home for his ancient reptiles.
To develop the best park possible, he consulted with the manager of a similar open-air dinosaur museum in Germany, as well as with internationally known authorities on prehistoric life. With a great deal of information, planning, and hard work, the Svensson family created a pleasant environment in which to entertain and inform their visitors.
